Jeremy Woolhouse is a pianist, composer and teacher of Alexander Technique practising in Melbourne, Australia. He has been using the Technique as a professional performer and piano teacher since 1998.

A music graduate of the VCA, Jeremy went on to complete a four year intensive teacher training at the School of FM Alexander Studies.  He has maintained a private Alexander teaching practice in Melbourne since 2006.

Jeremy is experienced in applying Alexander Technique to a range of conditions and professional applications.  He has particular expertise in working with musicians and performing artists, and interest in issues such as RSI, back pain and neck pain.  He is keen on his students achieving independence, sustained well-being and inspired performance. Jeremy’s lessons are a structured explorative approach, both progressive and fun!

Robert Schubert - Clarinettist and Teacher of the Alexander Technique - Eltham and home vitist

Robert Schubert has had over thirty years’ experience with the Alexander Technique. After early study of Alexander Technique as a post-graduate clarinet student, the Teachnique proved to be effective in dealing with the demands of professional musical performance. As Principal Clarinet with Hiroyuki Iwaki’s Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa in Japan, he recorded on Deutsche Grammophon, Victor and Sony and since returning to Australia in 1996 Robert has performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. In 2015 he performed on clarinet and taught Alexander Technique at the Composers’ Week Festival in Ankara, Turkey and in July 2017 taught Alexander Technique at the World Harp Congress in Hong Kong.

Robert was Lecturer in Woodwind (1996 - 2017) and Alexander Technique (2008 - 2017) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and the Victorian College of the Arts. He teaches Alexander Technique to performing artists of all levels and disciplines, as well as sports people and the general public. He is a contributing author in Galvanizing Performance, the Alexander Technique as a catalyst for excellence, which was published in 2017.

Jenny Thirtle - Voice, Performance and Alexander Technique - Windsor and North Fitzroy

Jenny has been the Assistant Director and Teacher at ‘The School for FM Alexander Studies’ teacher training school since 2003. As part of her work at the school, Jenny runs groups and master classes for voice and performance.

Since graduating from the Melbourne Alexander Teacher Training School in 1996 Jenny has maintained a private practice where she teaches musicians and members of the general public who are in pain or want to improve performance. Over the years Jenny has conducted many workshops and groups for organisations including Monash University Music Department, Suzuki Music Association, Wesley College, Mac Robertson Girls’ High School, Melbourne Girls College and Copperfield College. Jenny is also a regular tutor for Scholars from the Melba Opera Trust programme. Jenny delivered 12 week courses at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) Music Dept and Melba Conservatorium for their Bachelor degree programs. Jenny has also has taught actors at the VCA the Drama Dept since 2018.

Ann Shoebridge - Alexander Technique and Physiotherapist - Musician’s health and performance - Warranwood

Ann Shoebridge is an Alexander Technique teacher and physiotherapist from Melbourne, who works primarily in performance and health for musicians and actors.

Ann practices as an Alexander Technique teacher in Melbourne’s outer east, and teaches individuals and groups onsite and online. Her teaching portfolio includes Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's String Fellowship Programs, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra's Wind, Brass and Percussion Fellowship Programs, the Australian Youth Orchestra, the Victorian Youth Symphony Orchestra, the University of Melbourne Faculty of Fine Arts and Music (music and theatre studies), Musicians’ Health and Wellness at the University of York, the Victorian Arts Centre, Melbourne Recital Centre, and the British Royal Shakespeare Company.

Ann is completing the final stage of a doctorate investigating playing-related problems in musicians. She is co-researcher on a project embedding evidence-based musicians’ health into professional music training.

Ann has presented her research at performing arts health and music education conferences in Australia, the U.S. and the U.K. She was keynote speaker at the 2016 Alexander Technique in Music Education conference at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, London. Her study on musicians’ posture: An Interdisciplinary Theory of Optimal Posture for Musicians was published in the Psychology of Music journal in January 2017.
